Project activities
LACRe project is organized in 5 consecutive actions, which are fundamental for the development of the pilot model of Climate Responsibility and for its testing on the territories of the Livorno and Ferrara Provinces, plus one action of project management and monitoring which lasts for the whole project.
The actions will take place from January 2009 to December 2010.
- Project Management and monitoring: The overall goal of this action is to provide an effective coordination and management of all the actions and activities included in the project, in order to achieve the goals and keep close contacts with the EU.
- Capacity building and definition of the tools: This action aims at supporting partners during the whole project by providing them all the necessary general and technical knowledge to define the model of the Climate Responsibility.
- Livorno local climate partnership: the Livorno Province aims through this action at involving the local business sector and the local civil society in a private-public partnership for the definition of local targets of GHG emission reduction. The general target for the area will be made up by the commitments of the single partnership subscribers, which will develop, with the support of the Province, an action plan to achieve those targets. The partnership agreement will include as well a monitoring protocol to based on accountability principles.
- Ferrara local climate partnership: the Ferrara Province aims through this action at involving the local business sector and the local civil society in a private-public partnership for the definition of local targets of GHG emission reduction. The general target for the area will be made up by the commitments of the single partnership subscribers, which will develop, with the support of the Province, an action plan to achieve those targets. - Evaluation and guidelines: This action aims at evaluating the outcomes of the project and in particular the results of the local application phases. It will be looking mostly at the effectiveness of the co-operation between partners in terms of communication and exchange of know-how, and of the cohesion and success of the alliances built in the two Provinces, and at the significance of the model of Climate Responsibility in terms of climate change mitigation. Such evaluations will be the bases for the elaboration of a manual of guidelines to distribute Europe-wide to other local authorities willing o engage in the same challenge.
- Dissemination and Communication: The objective of this task is to communicate the results of the project at a local, national and European level.
