The LACRe project

The project LACRe aims to contribute to the struggle with climate changes through a public-private partnership which, bearing corporate social responsibility as grassroots, supports effective strategies to reduce the greenhouse gasses emissions.
Therefore, it is necessary to collect the key roles, the commitments and the skills of various actors, who, in a different way, can help in reaching a common target, meaning %u201Clow carbon economy%u201D.
The key targets are:
- To involve the local companies in a common process of greenhouse gasses emissions reduction, including the approval of a protocol which commits all the actors to measure their emissions and to draw an interventional plan to reduce them.
- To set-up an accountability and openness procedure, which enables the local community to disseminate its commitments, reached results and environmental benefits produced by the alliance subscribers.
The Climate Responsibility pilot model
During the project first phase a climate responsibility model was produced to support the implementation of targets foreseen within the project.
A strategic agreed approach to the climate change issue was defined, meaning on the one hand a process type, which can be subjected to standardisation and repetition, based on openness and accountability principles; on the other one a tools set to support the project partners and the climate alliance subscribers to help the well on-going of the project and the targets reaching.
The model is a triangle-shaped figure. It is composed by three bonded parts, which need to be equal for the project success.

- The climate responsibility strategic approach is based on the consideration of the energy efficiency as a key element, being a competitive advantage and not subjected to cost changes. It foresees also that the actors, both public and private, share the responsibilities about the climate.
- The process type, prefigured by the climate responsibility model, supports the public-private partnership to reach common targets, such as economical and environmental wellness and openness.
- The technical equipment represents the third pilaster on which the model is based . We refer to the tools set, which the companies are provided in case they decide to take part in the alliance. This set will help them to monitor and account their emissions and to develop common policies for the emissions reduction, thinking in terms of innovation, openness and evaluation of the efforts which have been done, also at business level.
